DESCRIPTION

Woodland Hideaway

Perched above the scenic Little Miami River and tucked into the edge of wilderness, the project’s central challenge was to integrate the experience of the open woodland and a comfortable home. The exterior material palette visually integrates with the woodland setting through custom-colored white cedar shingles, the hue chosen matched the moss on the nearby tree trunks.

The project is a rehabilitation of a previously developed site, with the goal to avoid any intrusion into pristine forest areas. Existing trees on site were preserved and integrated as essential design elements, maintaining their crucial role in hillside stabilization and creating a natural frame for the view of the house.

Woodland Hideaway functions as both home and nature observatory, with a profound connection to the environment.
